  The State Street Café sits nestled in between other buildings in downtown Geneseo. Not much signage on the exterior but in this case less is more. The interior is done very nicely, other than the carpet. The paint scheme and decorations add a lot of charm and character, and the best way to describe this place would be “quaint”.
  
  The breakfast menu is unlike so many others, in that there are not that many options to be had. However what they do they do well. The unmistakable best part of my breakfast was the potatoes. The home fries are done perfectly, seasoned well with a little parsley spritz. If there was an award for best breakfast potatoes, these are a definite contender. The meats were also good, especially the bacon. The pancakes were fluffy sweet. My one knock would be the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were fine it’s the gravy. Let me just say I have had better. They pay attention to detail in the preparation of what could be thought of as a normally basic meal. Also prices are righteous and service is spot on.

  Chicken salad sandwich is great. Try it with bacon on texas toast. Prices arr good, breakfast is good. Building smells a bit, that's the only drawback.
